A Spoon full of sugar

Thank you to the guys at Spoon, "a bi-monthly, digital zine based on the little things that make life awesome: inspirations, experiences, and simplicity...", for featuring my print Lonely Metropolis (3rd one, top row) in their Aug/Sept issue.

World of Webcomics!

I've recently rediscovered webcomics and wow have I been missing out. I've already amassed a number of must reads. I really don't need more distractions but, hey, with stories and art as good as this I can consider reading them as leisure and study.

Here's one of my faves:

Two Keys
by Chloe Chan and Aliena Shoemaker
In a city split between humans and occult, Colin Aston just wants to run his diner and make bad coffee. A peaceful life isn't on the menu though, as a mysterious blonde shows up with a job only Colin is capable of performing. If he takes it, Colin will have to face sorcerers, politicians, and little old ladies... not to mention a secret that destroyed nearly half the city and hits a little too close to home.

Any recommendations are welcome.

Stupidly excited. And I mean stupid.

New additions to my art toolbox are always a thrill, no matter how small. I love to browse art shops. I just wish I could do more buying than browsing.

So through my mailbox today came this, a much needed 0.3 mechanical pencil for all those finicky little details. I did say "stupidly excited".

New Print! L is for London

My latest piece is inspired by my hometown. If I had to pick my favourite place from those depicted, I'd say Battersea Power Station. I had a chance to visit it a couple years ago and it was awesome (my little post about it).

L is for London is now in the shop!

What's on my drawing board?

Okay, so here's a snapshot of what I've been drawing the last few days. It's pretty much ready for scanning and colouring. Sometimes I'm so glad to be putting the pen down.

A Freaky Halloween to All the Freaks!

...be you zombie, witch, wizard, axe-wielding killing machine, or just a sweet transvestite from Transexual, Transylvania.

P.S. Please don't egg my door.

Gold Star for Effort!

Ah, the amazing satisfaction of just clearing your workspace of all the junk you've accumulated over the past few months, and even years. My recycling bin is now overflowing.

New Print! The Bakery

Something new inspired by the smell of fresh bread and a little shop in Portugal.

The Bakery is now in my shop.

New Print! Ersilia

Here's a new addition to my illustrations inspired by Italo Calvino's novel Invisible Cities. This one is inspired by the city of Ersilia.

Now in the shop!

New Print! The Fire Station

I just love the old fire stations you see around London, especially when they're still being used for their original purpose. So here's my version of one.

Now in the shop!

Going round in Circles

This is how I feel sometimes. I drew this about a year ago whilst having a go at Little Red Riding Hood. Oh, poor Mr. Wolf, where oh where can that little girl be?

Shoes, shoes, shoes

Just a little sketch of the inhabitants of my staircase. Only one of those pairs is mine and those trainers at the bottom are a bit of a mystery.

Return of the King!

Well, perhaps not the king but believe it or not I am still here.

And here's a little hint of a new piece I'm working on.

Thanks for all the lovely comments since my last post!
